Tuition & Financial Planning

The Global MBA program is comprised of 57 credit hours. Tuition is billed at $1485 per credit hour making tuition a total of $84,645. The Student Association fee is $1.75 per credit hour, up to a maximum of $26.25 per semester. The Consulting Abroad Program Fee is $2,950 and additional estimated CAP costs (airfare, meals, Visa documents, and immunizations) are estimated at $2,000.

MBA Admissions Merit-Based Scholarships

All applications are considered for merit-based scholarships. No separate application is required to apply. Scholarships are typically awarded in flat amounts ranging from $15,000 to full tuition and cover tuition only. 50% of the Fall 2012 entering class received merit-based scholarships.

  • City Year-give a year Partnership

    Eligibility To receive this award, you must meet the following requirements:

    • You must be a City Year corps member, a City Year alumnus who has completed one year of service or a City Year staff member employed for at least two years.
    • You must be pursuing the full-time Global MBA.

     

    Benefits

    • $25,000 tuition scholarship for up to three (3) recipients per year. This scholarship dollar amount is not renewable for the second year, but will be dispersed throughout the duration of the program at a set rate to be determined in the scholarship award letter.
    • Application fee waiver
    • One-year deferral for students who are admitted to the program and decide to serve with City Year before starting their Global MBA.
    • Scholarships described above represent the minimum awards; applicants will be considered for additional merit- aid based on the academic strength of the application.


    How to Apply

    • In order to receive the application fee waiver, please select "Pay by Check” when you get to the section of the application that requires you to pay the application fee. Then, submit your application, immediately email the Admissions Office gwmba@gwu.edu and provide an official verification letter (see below) from City Year that confirms your eligibility. We will then verify your application fee waiver in our system. 
    • A verification letter must be submitted to have the application fee waived and to be considered for the scholarship. Please send an email to Nan Shearer, City Year Alumni & Career Services Manager, at giveayear@cityyear.org with "GW MBA: City Year verification letter request” in the subject line and include the site where you served and dates of service in the email. This letter will be sent to GWSB’s Admissions Office and added to your applicant file.
    • Please indicate in the optional essay section that you are applying for the City Year Scholarship.
    • Please see City Year website for additional information.
    • All admission and scholarship decisions are made by GW School of Business and applicants must meet all application requirements and be a competitive candidate to be considered for admission and the scholarship.
  • Education Pioneers Scholarship

    Eligibility To receive this award, you must meet the following requirements:

    • You must be an Education Pioneers Analyst, Analyst Alumnus who has completed the 10-month program, or staff member employed for at least two years.
    • You must be pursuing the full-time Global MBA.

     

    Benefits

  • FUNED Fellowship

    EligibilityTo receive this award, you must meet the following requirements:

    • Hold Mexican citizenship.
    • Achieved a GPA of 8.0 minimum in your first degree program and hold a first degree Mexican “Titulo.”
    • Met the English language requirements for entry to the GW MBA Program.
    • Be pursuing the full-time Global MBA Program

     

    Benefits

    • The George Washington University will award a tuition scholarship as specified below for up to five candidates per year selected to pursue the Global MBA Program under the George Washington University-FUNED Fellowship.
      • GMAT > 600 =$10,000 total scholarship over the duration of the program
      • GMAT > 650 =$20,000 total scholarship over the duration of the program
      • GMAT > 700 = $70,000 total scholarship over the duration of the program
    • FUNED will grant “credit-scholarships” covering part of the total cost of the degree program (university fees and living expenses) up to 40 percent of the total cost, not to exceed $12,000 for the 21-month Global MBA program. The amount provided each prospective student will be based on the results of FUNED’s financial needs evaluation of the student, his or her repayment capability, and a personal interview.
      • The complementary financing of these “credit-scholarships”, plus interest at the rate of 3.75% in dollars or, 2% over Mexico’sinflation, per annum on unpaid balances, must be repaid in a maximum of 78 months fromgraduation. Students have a 6 month grace period after completing their studies to start paying fortheir debt.For more information
    • Additionally, the National Council of Science and Technologyin Mexico (CONACYT), may grant 300 scholarships for students FUNED supports for a monthly stipend of $1,000 USD, medical insurance for the full length of their masters degreesas well as up to $5,000 USD for tuition fees per year of study.     How to Apply

    • The candidate will first apply to the George Washington University and will be reviewed to determine eligibility for admission. If the candidate is admitted, he or she will also be considered for a GW FUNED Fellowship with the structure as specified above. If awarded a fellowship, he or she will then be referred to FUNED to apply for its “credit-scholarships.” If he or she is accepted to FUNED, the GW fellowship will be designated as a FUNED Fellowship. If not accepted to FUNED, the fellowship will remain from the GW pool of scholarship funds.

  • National Black MBA Association - DC Chapter Scholarship

    Eligibility To receive this award, you must meet the following requirements:

    • You must be pursuing the full-time Global MBA.
    • You must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident.
    • Preference may be given, but is not limited to, students of diverse heritage or students with a demonstrated commitment to the diverse National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA) community.
    • You are encouraged to be involved in the DC Chapter of NBMBAA.

     

    Benefits The amount of the award will cover partial to full tuition as determined by MBA Admissions. The awards are merit based and given in various amounts.

You will then be notified if you are awarded the scholarship at the same time you receive your decision of admission.   • National Society of Hispanic MBAs Scholarship

    Eligibility To receive this award, you must meet the following requirements:

    • You must be pursuing the full-time Global MBA.
    • You must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident.
    • Preference may be given, but is not limited to, students of Hispanic heritage or students with a demonstrated commitment to the Hispanic community.
    • You must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale from either a bachelor’s or master’s degree.

     

    Benefits The amount of the award will cover partial to full tuition as determined by MBA Admissions. The awards are merit-based and given in various amounts.

    How to Apply You must submit your scholarship application at the same time you submit your application for the Global MBA program. You will then be notified if you are awarded the scholarship at the same time you receive your decision of admission.   • Teach for America Fellowship

    Eligibility To receive this award, you must meet the following requirements:

    • You must be pursuing the full-time Global MBA
    • You must be a Teach for America (TFA) corps member or alumnus.

     

    Benefits

    • The amount of the award will cover partial to full tuition as determined by MBA Admissions. Fellowships are merit-based and awarded in various amounts.
    • Application fee waiver.
    • Two-Year Deferrals- College seniors who are interested in participating in both the GW MBA and TFA programs should apply separately to both. If admitted to both, you would receive a two-year deferment to participate in Teach for America before starting your MBA.


    How to Apply You must submit your fellowship application at the same time you submit your application for the Global MBA program. You will then be notified if you are awarded the fellowship at the same time you receive your decision of admission.     Please provide MBA Admissions with documentation of your association with Teach for America. This documentation should be on official letterhead and signed by your previous TFA sponsor or a current TFA alumni coordinator.

  • The Carlos Slim Scholarship

    Overview This scholarship is the result of a partnership between the Fundación Carlos Slim and GW. The Carlos Slim Scholarship creates an elite leadership development initiative for Mexico's very best graduate students in the disciplines of engineering, business, and international affairs. Mr. Carlos Slim is an international business leader committed to improving the human condition by alleviating poverty, improving healthcare, and investing in Mexico's young scholars.

    The Slim Scholars' focus will be global with a special emphasis on issues relevant to Mexico's leadership role in the world. Slim Scholars will have the opportunity to build relationships with George Washington leadership, international economic institutions, and influential political and thought leaders while gaining practical skills to prepare them for leadership responsibilities in Mexico.

    Eligibility To receive this award, you must meet the following requirements:

    • You must be a graduate student that has applied for admission in a graduate program in the School of Business, the School of Engineering and Applied Science, or the Elliott School of International Affairs.
    • You must be a citizen of the country of Mexico.
    • You must have an undergraduate degree earned in Mexico
    • You must have a meritorious academic record as evidenced by your undergraduate GPA and as measured by your performance on relevant entrance exams.
    • You must have demonstrated prior leadership experience either in your career or through undergraduate activities.
    • You may be required to successfully complete an interview process.

Loans

Most student loans are based on either financial need or creditworthiness and are available only to US citizens and permanent residents. GW students commonly use the Federal Stafford Loan Program, Alternative Education Loans, and the ACCESS Loan Program. Private loans may also be available. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) should be submitted to GW for federal loan programs. Please see the Office of Financial Assistance to learn how to apply for loans.
