The GW Executive MBA (EMBA) program empowers accomplished managers and professionals to enhance their organizational effectiveness. With the central theme of "Strategic Leadership in a Complex World," the program equips professionals for the realities of accelerated technological innovation, shifting social ethics, political instability and globalization. The program features an integrated curriculum delivered by our very best faculty. Its essential elements are summed up in what we call the Five Pillar Approach.
The Executive MBA program is built on a strong foundation of course work that spans all of the business disciplines. Both rigorous and relevant, it is rich in content, combining core elements with advanced topics.
Members of every EMBA class have remarked that one of the most valuable aspects of the experience is the opportunity to learn from the students in the program: leaders from many industries and areas of functional expertise, from large multinational corporations to small businesses; from government entities to private practices; and from national associations to small non-profits. The diversity in the class creates a dynamic learning environment where participants benefit from shared experiences and new perspectives.
Building on GW's more than 100 years of experience in management education, a select full-time faculty team leads the Executive MBA program. This faculty is recognized internationally for outstanding research and practice in the disciplines they teach, and a number are recipients of national and international honors. In addition to their contributions to major scholarly journals and research symposia, faculty members consult with top private and public organizations. Many have previously served in an executive capacity in corporations and public institutions.
Understanding that Executive MBA students must balance full-time, successful careers with all the demands of mature personal lives, the staff of the program provide a superior level of support for students, ensuring efficient use of their valuable time. Staff provide support with class registration, textbook orders, cases and course-specific software, financial aid, and more. Catering for breakfast, lunch and breaks is provided on class days, as is on-site parking, and all airline and hotel reservations are made for the residency courses.
The George Washington University School of Business is housed in a new $56 million building. Located at the corner of 22nd and G Streets, Duquès Hall brings all of the School's academic and research units under one roof and features state-of-the-art technologies in tiered classrooms, team rooms, the career center and computer labs. The facility also includes an executive conference center and a capital markets room, where students can access real-time quotes and use proprietary software for financial modeling, trading and portfolio management.
Just as companies have a corporate culture, so too do business schools and EMBA programs. This culture is the thread that ties the other elements together—the unifying force that takes a robust curriculum, an outstanding student body, an inspiring faculty, a high-tech business building and a myriad of premium services and weaves them into a single experience.
At GW, you'll find a refreshing down-to-earth quality, a collaborative, cooperative environment, and a learning community void of pretense and sham. Those who visit campus and meet the people all say the same thing: GW EMBAs are different. They're accomplished but not boastful; they're serious but not standoffish; they're intellectual, savvy and resourceful leaders who understand the value of each member of the team and the community as a whole. They are business people with a public conscience.
